Riesling grape

This grape ripens late, usually only at the end of September or beginning of October, and then has a golden yellow color with some small specks on the skin. The Riesling is suitable for the production of dry and elegant wines . However, its fame is due to the sweet wines that this grape variety can produce. The Riesling grape can produce high-class wines that have a long shelf life. The grape vines for these high quality wines (German: Spitzenweinen) are often planted on steep slopes.
At the beginning of the 20th century, Riesling wines from the Rheingau and Moselle were often more expensive than the best-known wines from Bordeaux .

In addition to Germany and Alsace, Riesling is also planted in Moravia (Czech Republic) , Croatia , Austria , Hungary , Northern Italy , Luxembourg , United States and Australia . This grape variety is found in more and more countries.

In Germany, the Riesling grape is also called “The Queen of Grapes”.
German wines made from Riesling grapes can be drunk young. However, certain pointe class wines can also age very well.
