Grape: 100% Chardonnay.

Robust, yet elegant wine. Aromas of pears, apricots and banana with a light spicy hint. A nice fresh aftertaste.

Domain
Cascina Ghercina was founded in 1871 and through the various generations a clear mission has been established: only own cultivation and quality come first. In 2002, the family purchased 8 hectares of vineyards, located on southwestern slopes in the middle of the Barolo region. These are located 360 meters above sea level and the flow of the 'Ghercina' river between the vineyards offers an exclusive microclimate. In addition, they built a 5000m² wine cellar, which is partly underground. This has increased the storage capacity to more than 15,000 hectoliters. The domain also has vineyards in Langhe, Alba, Roero, Asti, Monferrato and Gavi.

Soil
The vines are planted on a soil of rock, marl and lime with a sandy subsoil.

Exhibition
The vineyards are located south-west at an altitude of 360m. The domain is located on Lake Ghercina. This tells us why this name was chosen. The domain has vineyards in Langhe (traditional Barolo, Barbaresco, Nebbiolo d'Alba, Dolcetto d'Alba, Barbera d'Alba), Roero (Roero DOCG Arneis), Asti (Barbera d'Asti, Moscato d'Asti, Asti Spumante) , Montferrato (Piemonte Barbera, Piemonte Cortese, Monferrato Dolcetto) and Gavi (Gavi and Gavi di Gavi).

Harvest
The harvest is completely manual and the grapes are subject to a strict selection procedure.

Vinification
The grapes are gently pressed and then undergo fermentation under controlled temperatures. This is followed by a maturation of 6 months "Sur Lie".
