Domain
Antoine de Laye rebuilt the Château on the foundations of a much older fortress, built during the Carolingian period. At that time, the river Douby, which is located a few meters from the castle, was the border between the dioceses of Autun and Lyon and the counties of Burgundy and Beaujolais. The Château became the property of the Ragny de La Magdeleine family. The family played an important role, especially in the integration of the French Renaissance style that characterizes the courtyard of the Château. At the end of the 16th century, and for the next four hundred years, the castle was owned by the Tircuy de La Barre family. Gradually the name of La Barre was replaced by Corcelles. The castle has been a National Heritage Site since February 4, 1927. In the 1960s the castle underwent a complete restoration, with special care for the beautiful roofs. Today, following further investment by the Richard family, Chateau de Corcelles has been restored to its former glory and welcomes visitors from all over the world! The vineyard has a large number of old vines with an average age of 40 years.
